It exudes intense aromas of white flowers, peach and tropical fruit. The taste is rich and fruity, with hints of apple, pear, peach, vanilla and lots of tropical fruit
Ceretto's "Blangé" is a cult white wine from Piedmont, a rich and exuberant expression of the native Arneis grape variety that became an icon in the 1980s and 1990s. Its success endures to this day and it can be found in restaurants all over the world as one of Italy's most famous whites, a best seller and long seller at the same time. It was born in 1985 from the Ceretto family's intuition as a great bet by brothers Bruno and Marcello who, in the glory days of the great Piedmontese reds, rediscovered an almost forgotten grape variety: Arneis. An innovative and unthinkable choice at the time that instead turned out to be a brilliant and winning intuition.
The name of "Blangé" Arneis by Ceretto comes from the dialectal pronunciation of one of the first plots of land from which the Caretto Brothers began producing this label. It is the 'baker's vineyard', boulanger in French, so called because it was once owned by a French baker who arrived in the Roero in the 18th century following the armistice of Cherasco. This French term contributed to its great success, along with the graphics with an innovative and appealing design: a transparent bottle with a white label in gold letters designed by Silvio Coppola, an internationally renowned Milanese architect.
The characteristics that have made Arneis "Blangé" Ceretto so famous are due to the daring and artistic spirit of oenologist Donato Lanati who, in order to enhance its fullness and aromatic intensity, inaugurated in the 1980s the technique of cryomaceration, that's to say the contact of the skins with the must for about 12 hours at a temperature of 5°C. This technique favours maximum extraction of the grape's primary aromas while safeguarding the aromatic cleanliness and delicacy of the fruit. The aromas are indeed intense and varied: pear, apple, peach, citrus and lots of tropical fruit. The sip confirms the intensely fruity soul, combined with a balanced freshness and good persistence. A white wine that has written the history of Langhe whites and is still today confirmed as very pleasant and captivating, appreciated by enthusiasts all over the world, loved by young people and women.
